OTHER CONSIDERATIONS...

When determining which size shed will work for you, consider your lot size. If you plan to get a permit, what does your city or town require in terms of frame construction, shed color, roofing, or shed size? Cities also commonly place restrictions on how far a shed must be from property lines and setbacks, which could limit the size and location of your shed. Also, have you applied for a permit yet or looked into your city’s codes? This may be a good place to start if you plan on going the permitted route! Since permitting matters are left in the buyer’s control, it’s never too soon to start the application process for a permit or to simply start asking questions with your city to make sure your shed plans will work! And, that they’ll happen on schedule!

Also, consider whether or not there are any obstacles to building in your desired shed location. This could include low-hanging trees, power lines, uneven ground, soft terrain, etc. Some people may have gravel or concrete bases poured prior to building, however that is not always necessary. Yard Spaces most commonly builds on concrete blocks. These blocks are inserted into the soil in pivotal places, such as the shed corners and under the centers of long boards. Then, once the blocks are leveled out, a treated lumber base is built on top of them, which the remainder of the shed is then built on! Again, if you are getting this permitted, you will want to see what your city requires for this. If you’d like our help getting gravel or concrete poured, please inquire with any questions. We may be able to assist you with this as well.
